Nestled right up against the Gettysburg National Military Park on a quiet back road is the quaint Baladerry Inn. The oldest part of the Inn was built in 1812 on the Bushman farm property, with the rest of the house built in 1830. This house was later occupied by son of George Bushman. This property is located on Hospital Road just minutes from Little Round Top. Like many other houses in the area this bed and breakfast was used as a field hospital for the Potomac during the battle of Gettysburg.
The owners Judy and Kenny Caudill of the are very warm and gracious hosts. They really make you feel like you are at home and part of the family there. The landscape here is beautiful along with each detail of the Inn itself. They do great work keeping up with this place as it is always completely spotless. The rooms are very inviting and cozy where you sleep without disruption in the comfortable beds.
During the evenings you usual can spot a few deer coming through to eat or just run through the yard playing. A hot tub sits on the patio where you can relax with a glass of wine, after a long day on the field and hitting the museums. This place is truly a primitive and historical location loaded with history.
Guest rooms are in the 1812 main house, the 1830 addition, along with the carriage house. They offer 10 beautifully decorated rooms with private baths, free Wi-Fi, and country breakfast each morning. The three-course breakfast each morning you stay is amazing. It is served in the Great room where it is dominated by a large brick fireplace, it allows guest to relax, socialize (if you want to), it also features individual tables where you can look out to the terrace where during in season you can enjoy breakfast outside too while enjoying the beautiful landscape and wildlife that comes through the yard.
The fire pit is a bonus to this beautiful location, always great to grab a warm drink in the fall time to sit around the fire and relax. Bring stuff to make s’mores and you will be set for an evening full of fun! Everything the Baladerry Inn has to offer is awesome, relaxing, and worth every moment spent here.
